Newborn & Baby Photography Bournemouth

I have been doing baby photography with babies of all ages for a long time usually in their own homes but I have finally opened my very own home studio. I can now photograph babies from birth to crawling and beyond in a comfortable space with the right lighting and props, I can still however come to you if you prefer.

Newborn babies under 2 weeks old are usually very sleepy and quite happy to pose beautifully, blissfully unaware. I have a magical tip which is to use a hairdryer gently on baby which keeps them warm and they are instantly settled by the white noise. I have a selection of baskets and blankets and obviously the beautiful hats, can’t forget the hats. Baby is photographed naked which for a newborn baby is the most natural thing ever.

I allow up to 3-4 hours for a shoot so if you need to spend and hour feeding and settling baby you won’t feel rushed, you can just enjoy a cup of tea and a natter.

My usual price is £150 for the session with 10 edited high resolution photographs on a disc, however for November and December I am charging  a launch price of just £100 which is incredibly good value for money

I offer gift vouchers if you want to buy a present for someone leaving work or for a baby shower gift.

Book in early to avoid disappointment as there are limited slots available at this Knock down price.

Jewish Wedding Photography Dorset

Last week I was asked to photograph my first traditional Jewish Wedding. It was a great experience, full of tradition and realy good fun, these people truly know how to have a great time.

The ceremony takes place under a Chuppa which symbolises the home created and shared by the newlyweds.

Firstly is the Bedeken Ceremony which takes place privately in front of immediate family only,  the groom places the veil over the brides face after checking he is marrying the right bride!

David and the Rabbi Pete Tobias share a joke whilst waiting for Olivia to arrive.

Following her entrance into the Chuppah the bride then circles the groom 7 times, known as Hakafot this indicates that their lives will be forever entwined.

The exchange of the rings is an important part of every wedding ceremony, in a Jewish ceremony the rings are placed on the right hand index finger.

The Ketubah is the beautiful handcrafted marriage contract which is written in both Hebrew and English and declares the equal commitment of both the husband and wife.

The Shevra Brachot are then recited over a shared goblet of wine which seals the marriage union. The end of the ceremony is marked by the breaking of a glass under the grooms foot which recalls the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem by the Romans.

Following the blessings the whole party take to the dance floor for in this case 10 minutes of crazy Israeli dancing, as I say these people reaaly know how to have fun, this ends with the brides and groom being lifted on chairs by the guests.

This was an amazing experience for me as a Wedding Photographer and a real lesson in history and tradition.

I wish Olivia and David all the best in their married lives together with daughter Sophia (what a star she was too!)

Bournemouth portrait Photography – Prom photographs

Whatever the occasion this summer albeit your prom, graduation or just your birthday why not capture those memories with your friends forever before you go your separate ways to college or Uni. For just £100 you can have an hour long location photo shoot and each receive a disc of photos  to keep, this special price is for groups of up to 10. I am happy to do more than 10 at an additional cost of £10 per person.

Your location portrait shoot can take place at the location of your choice, either before or en route to your prom dressed in all your finery.

or a more relaxed shoot on the beach.

Either way you will have a great time with your friends and have a lovely set of photos to look back on for years to come. This idea is also a great alternative as a birthday party, each guest will  receive a disc with this special offer.

Langtry Manor business mother of the year awards 2012

I am very honoured to have been nominated for The Langrty Manor Business mother of the year award sponsored by the Daily Echo. I was quite surprised to have been selected as a semi finalist from the 97 nominees. We had to do a one minute presentation to video about ourselves which was a little nerve wracking to say the least ( I do smile sometimes in real life I promise!!) The finalists will then be up for a public vote.

Their are some amazing mums out there working their socks off running their own business whilst juggling family life, many of whom are doing it single handed, hats off to you all. It means alot to me to be recognised for all my hard work and perhaps even to be an insppiration to someone somewhere that it is never too late in life to reinvent yourself and follow your dream. I couldn’t have done any of it with out my husband and amazing kids.

Mother’s Day gift idea ~ Family portrait shoot

Mother’s day is on the 18th March and what better way to show your Mum just how much you love her than providing her with beautiful photographs of her family with a family location portraits shoot for as little as £50 (see below).

I specialise in location portrait shoots which are great fun and produce lovely natural photographs  a really great alternative to a studio.

Why not buy a gift voucher for a portrait shoot at a location of your choice which Mum can be a part of, alternatively have the shoot in secret and produce the photographs for her as her gift.

Here are some of my favourites from family portrait shoots last year.
