Cancer Research UK Relay For Life  ~  Ferndown

For the last two years I have been the media committee member for this brilliant event and their official photographer. It is a 24 hour team event which takes place on the track by Ferndown Leisure Centre. Teams of between 8and 15 people of any age  (literally!) Take turns to walk around the track for 24 hours, those not walking set up camp on the field and enjoy the entertainment that is laid on.

The weekend runs from 12pm on the Saturday until 12pm on the Sunday. Fun begins with a lap of honour by Cancer Survivors.  At 10 pm the mood quietens for the Candle of Hope ceremony where people dedicate a candle to someone they have lost or someone who is fighting Cancer or in celebration of a survivor.

My motivations for getting involved are in memory of my best friend Judith who lost her battle with Cancer 11 years ago aged just 35 and my Mum, a survivor, who beat the disease 20 years ago.

What’s your story? I bet you have one….
